Fiori Musicali are one of the UK’s principal providers of baroque and classical music concerts outside London. Fiori are based just 'over the Warwickshire border', in Northamptonshire.
Founded in 1983 by Dr Penelope Rapson, Fiori appear in the many beautiful and historic settings with which the area is richly endowed, and take many forms - from a small instrumental or vocal ensemble, through to full choir and/or orchestra.
As part of the build-up to London 2012, Fiori are working with visual artist Monica Fernandez as part of the Cultural Olympiad in a project entitled Mad About the Seasons (inspired by Vivaldi and the poetry of John Clare).
Fiori are working with commmunities to record visual impressions of rural and cultural heritage, as well as individual responses to contemporary issues such as sustainability and climate change. These impressions will then be brought together with the poetry and the music in a series of cross-artform performances.
Following from their initiatives in Northamptonshire, Fiori are now looking to create a sustainable network of concerts in rural Warwickshire. The programme will address the issues of community cohesion, inclusion of younger and older people, and provide access to and participation in high quality provision of a wide range of renaissance, baroque and classical concerts involving Fiori Musicali and music-lovers from the villages.
