Today the Charity Commission, the independent regulator of charities in England and Wales, has launched a consultation on proposals to introduce changes to the Annual Return and the content of the Register of Charities for 2014 onwards.
This new booklet, produced by Living Streets and the People and Places Coalition, which includes CABE and AgeUK, is being sent to all councils in England.
It offers a guide for councillors and communities on how they can transform the places they live, as well as signposting to useful information and tools to help communities and local councils work together effectively to shape their neighbourhoods.
The Warwick District Council Small Grants Scheme 2013/14 has been launched to encourage voluntary and community sector organisations to apply for small scale community projects.
The Small Grants Scheme provides grants up to a maximum of £2,000 to provide new opportunities for local people, to enable greater community involvement in public services. We welcome applications from groups that have ideas which will benefit the wider community.

Research on behalf of Defra has now been published. This has a focus on neighbourhood planning in rural areas, but the tips from the frontrunners should prove to be of interest to all. It is the first piece of Government funded research into neighbourhood planning. Prepared for Defra with intput from DCLG, it was reviewed by a reference group including representatives from ACRE, Cabe at the Design Council, CPRE, Locality, Planning Aid England and The Prince's Foundation.
From 1st May 2013 neighbourhoods can apply for a share of the £9.5 million earmarked by government to support neighbourhood planning.
The funding and direct support is administered by Locality.
Applications are invited in two stages.
