Your Local Hedgerows and Woods
Warwickshire Wildlife Trust would like to get people in and around the Princethorpe/ Bubbenhall area involved in learning more about the environment about them, especially the woods and the hedgerows between them, linking to the local farming economy and the history of the woodlands.
The area around Princethorpe and Bubbenhall contains 10% of the oldest and most important woods in Warwickshire but these woods have been fragmented so that woodland wildlife struggles to move from one wood to another. Hedgerows can act as a vital link between woodlands but they are often in poor condition or have been replaced by fencing. We would like to get local people involved in looking at the hedgerows, finding out about the plant and animal species that are already present, and repairing and renewing hedgerows where necessary. We would also like to foster links between local villages and the local farming economy, linked in with the history of the area in relation to its woodlands and their economic significance.
