Barford Scarecrow Event
Submitted by Anonymous on Wed, 2nd Dec 2009
I visited Barford Scarecrow Event at the weekend.
There were 60+ scarecrows scattered round the village and on Monday a large number of mainly local people enjoying them. Some of the scarecrows were excellent. This is the second year they have done it. I don't know if any artist was involved but they could be.

Village Pantomime/Musical Production
Submitted by Geoff Marsh on Wed, 2nd Dec 2009The project aims to provide some basic theatrical equipment - lighting, staging, costumes - to allow a group of villagers of all ages to come together to stage a pantomime or musical in the local Church Hall. Several groups have expressed interest including the Youth Club and local choir. A number of possible alternative productions have been identified but some basic equipment will have to be funded to get the project off the ground.
Community fruit and vegetable production
Submitted by Geoff Marsh on Wed, 2nd Dec 2009Ryton-on-Dunsmore Parish Council is in the process of acquiring an area of land adjacent to the church for development as a Community Graveyard. For the medium future there will be considerably more land than is required. The proposal therefore is to develop a portion of this land as a Community Market Garden using volunteers to prepare the area and grow fruit and vegetables. Initial funds would be required for site preparation and horticultural provisions. It is anticipated that once established, local sale of produce would cover most of the operating costs.
