Transform your allotments

A Coventry group of older people has regenerated its local allotments as a community allotment and won a prize in the 'Heart of England in Bloom' contest. They were guided by Age Concern's Growing Concerns initiative. Are your allotments run down, with several vacant plots? LEADER could help you to bring together a community group to restore them as a community allotment.

Community Bike Scheme

Warwickshire could really benefit from a community bike scheme. There are already a lot of similar schemes dotted around the UK. We have some beautiful countryside in Warwickshire and the best way to appreciate it is often on a bike. It would engage all age groups, get people active and encourage people to get out into the countryside. A bike scheme could be delivered in a number of ways and in a number of locations throughout the area.

Rural Paparazzi

Project to provide a digital camera to a youth group in each ward (20 in total) in the Central Warwickshire leader area.  Youngsters would be taught to use cameras and would be able to use the camera/borrow it for a period of time.

Monthly theme for photographs eg water, farm animal, wildlife, local event,  with monthly competition for best photograph.

Photographs to be uploaded to Flickr (similar to the Big Picture project in Birmingham)

Community Art - Marton Madonna

Visited Marton Art Exhibition and saw the 'Marton Madonna' This is a 3m by 4m copy of Raphael's Madonna which was produced in 36 panels by 36 different people from the village two years ago. Look spectacular.  It's certainly a good example a community arts activity that others may like to try.
